I grew up a UK basketball fan. My first year watching basketball was . Of all the years I ve watched the Wildcats play I think this year may be the craziest. The start when we lost to Gardner Webb and San Diego went on a game losing streak and started was awful. I ve never been so down on UK. I went to games actually thinking we were going to lose the first time I ve ever done that. However the world changed when we beat a ranked Vanderbilt team. I remember coming back to my apartment and hearing my room mate Ben say I m suddenly interested in college basketball again. Indeed that was a good call. UK has lost exactly times since then and have won times. It s been an awesome ride full of ups beating Tennessee and Vandy and downs losing to Vandy by and losing Patterson for the year . Now UK is squarely on the bubble. This in itself is pretty miraculous considering our early season losses to GW and San Diego. However this is the first time I can remember UK not having a bid loc! ked up before this point in the season. This is an equation for the most tense Selection Sunday of my entire life. I think that if UK beats Florida on Sunday they will go to the NCAA tournament. They will definitely get it locked up if they beat Florida and then win one game in the SEC tournament. It will be iffy if UK loses to Florida and wins one in the SEC tournament or if they beat UF and lose in the first game of the SEC tournament . I really really really hope that UK goes to the NCAA tournament. It would be great to continue that streak and also I really want it for the Seniors on this team. Whatever happens this year I am tremendously proud of this basketball team. I feel like this team has become a part of my life like any other since the team that should have gone to the Final Four except for Keith Bogan s ankle and Dwanye Wade . I really hope that UK suits up for the NCAA tournament but if its the NIT I ll still be proud of this team. So don t talk to me a week f! rom Sunday. I ll be a nervous wreck no matter what.
